For some reason the feeling of acceleration is one of our primal intoxications. Maybe our ancient ancestors loved cliff jumping, or maybe theres a prehistoric cave loaded with sports cars, but it still remains that we all love to go fast. Its the reason we hit the gas when the light turns yellow, and the reason we put our feet on the bottom rack of the shopping cart when no one's looking. Speed is the reason we bomb hills and the reason we take off on waves. We are all chasing that feeling, and once you give up trying to suppress that deep internal longing for speed you'll thank yourself. Speed is the reason that Waterborne teamed up with Riptide.
Designed in San Diego by lifelong skateboarders and surfers, Riptide was built on the belief that a motorized electric skateboard can be super powerful and incredibly convenient, while retaining all the features that make an unpowered board great.
Very impressed with the ride and overall performance!!
I had ridden my Dad's Boosted Board prior to trying my friends Riptide Black with Waterbourne Surf adapters on them. I fell in love with the "surf" feel. I usually ride a Onewheel because it feels much like snowboarding. My friend who had the Riptide Black also had the new Onewheel Pint and after trying them both I knew I had to have the Riptide Black. I emailed Riptide and they said they were no long making that model but they passed the information along to me to contact Waterbourne Skateboads. The kit arrived a few days after my board. They hardware installation instructions were not the clearest and I am still not sure if I used the correct screws, but everything functions great! I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to surf down the street!
I've been holding off on the whole electric skateboard thing because I just have so much damn fun carving with my Carver Board and electric skateboards have seemed about as fun as electric scooters to me. Once Riptide announced their R1 Black though, I got my hands on one right away. By far the most fun board I've ever ridden! You can carve down a hill just coasting on the board, then when you get to the bottom, throttle up and bomb right to the top! Super impressed with the Waterborne adapter! This thing is surfboard on wheels! Oh, and it's electric!!!
