For some reason the feeling of acceleration is one of our primal intoxications. Maybe our ancient ancestors loved cliff jumping, or maybe theres a prehistoric cave loaded with sports cars, but it still remains that we all love to go fast. Its the reason we hit the gas when the light turns yellow, and the reason we put our feet on the bottom rack of the shopping cart when no one's looking. Speed is the reason we bomb hills and the reason we take off on waves. We are all chasing that feeling, and once you give up trying to suppress that deep internal longing for speed you'll thank yourself. Speed is the reason that Waterborne teamed up with Riptide.
Designed in San Diego by lifelong skateboarders and surfers, Riptide was built on the belief that a motorized electric skateboard can be super powerful and incredibly convenient, while retaining all the features that make an unpowered board great.
Fun to ride. Really. Despite what follows:
I have a Tan Tien with the standard drop through Paris Trucks. Installation instructions are clear and well to follow, but: the base of the paris trucks is a little too large for the front surf adapter. Solutions: Either turn the trucks 180degrees (king pin looking inward) or using one of the little raising plattforms that were delivered as well. The plattforms work well, but extra screws are required (length). Now the board carves really nicely but it is very very high. Partly because the drop through does not drop through anymore, partly because of the little plattforms that I used as spacer and of course the surf adapter adds height. It is now nearly impossible to stand on the board without movement, once you got going, it carves nicely. I am hoping to get an eBoard soon and get over these issues. I guess for drop through and paris trucks, i could not really recommend this item, but it IS fun...
Shipment to Europe was super fast and easy. Paid my 21% import tax and all was well.
This thing is amazing for my diy eboard, makes turns a breeze and keeps you stable at high speeds, highly recommend for anyone with a regular skateboard, or an esk8
